Community Supported Agriculture
What is a CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) allows for the customers to have a more intimate connection with their food from the farmers that are growing their food and the land on which it is grown. People purchase a “share” of the upcoming harvest. Upon this purchase, you enter into an agreement that benefits both the farmer and the customer, or what we call a “farm member.” Members pay 50% of their CSA upfront, which helps the farmer to cover early farm expenses during the winter months when less income is being generated on the farm. This helps the farmer to ready themselves for spring planting and allows for financial stability throughout the season.
How and where we farm:
We farm on two-acres at the beautiful Mequon Nature Preserve. We are part of the Fondy Farm Program. Though we are not certified because we currently rent our land, we farm organically. We are committed to being toxin-free in all that we do and only purchase non-GMO seeds, high quality soil and natural pest management methods. You will never find us spraying an herbicide, insecticide or pesticides.
We believe that the earth is sacred and treat it as such. We want to leave the earth we farm on in a better condition than when we found it. We are committed to nourishing our bodies, our community and our world.
What’s in a share?
Our focus in our CSA is provide you with produce you both know and love and some new vegetable varieties that you may not have tried before. We offer a diverse array of produce.
You can expect the following in our CSA:
Greens (lettuce, spinach, mustard)
Herbs (We grow an ABUNDANCE of herbs and hope to introduce new herbs into our members rotation)
Roots (radishes, beets, turnips, carrots, potatoes)
Brassicas (Broccoli, cabbage, kale)
Onions & Garlic
Beans
Fruiting vegetables (cucumbers, spinach, squash, peppers, tomatoes and maybe even pumpkin!)
We aim to provide approximately $25 worth of produce in your share each week though the value may fluctuate during the season.

Donate to the Full Circle Feed Milwaukee Fund
Last year, we provided 10 shares to Milwaukee members who were not able to afford the cost in partnership with Ayuda Mutua MKE and Loveland Acres Farm. Our Full Circle Feed Milwaukee fund is designed to help feed those in our community who may not be able to afford farm-fresh produce. These funds are used to provide CSA. In 2022, we aim to also provide fresh produce local area food programs. Email us at scalesfamilyfarmmke@gmail.com if you are in need of financial assistance, otherwise please consider donating to our cause.
